I have over 30 years’ senior business management experience both as a Supply Chain and Logistics Senior Executive and also within Procurement. I represent a number of boards: as a Director of Bisham Consulting, a Board Member for Elupeg, a member of the Advisory Board for Cranfield School of Management and a Freeman of the City of London.
Trustees have responsibility for setting and implementing the strategy of CILT International and for overseeing the governance and reputational integrity of the Institute. As honorary secretary I am responsible for the Aspire Foundation function within CILT and I also help advise fellow trustees and the Secretary General on constitutional issues, mostly the governance issues around compliance with the Royal Charter and bye-laws.
Having joined IoL in the UK as a Fellow in 1982, I was involved in the merger with the CIT and in 2001 became a Trustee of the then Institute of Logistics and Transport. Along with Rupert Nichols we drafted the bye-law revisions to form the CILT and the CILT UK and then the bye-laws allowing for the franchising of CILT International within the territorial organisations and branches.
I am a strong believer in the education and empowerment of managers within the Supply Chain and Transport in general and this underlies my work within the Institute. I also strongly believe in the power of collaboration and diversity within the Supply Chain and actively supports the aims and objectives of ELUPEG. As I Trustee I want to ensure that CILT International achieves its primary objective of promoting the art and science of logistics and transport globally, especially through education in the developing countries, where the skills and experience of members can deliver substantial benefits to communities and economies.
