Advice for Travelers

Visas

If you are joining us for CILT Africa Forum 2017, we look forward to seeing you there! Your visa application requires a valid passport or local travel document, at least one blank page for endorsements, sufficient funds to pay for your day-to-day expenses and a return or onward ticket.

Countries exempt from visas (for stays of less than 90 days) are Benin, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  Please ensure you have correct information for your country of origin as conditions do apply.  A yellow-fever inoculation may also be necessary depending on your point-of-departure.  Please see www.dha.gov.za/index.phb/applying-for-sa-visa

Climate

Remember that it is summer and it can be very hot with a high UV index at all times.  Please bring and use a high factor sunscreen and stay hydrated.  However, summer storms are common so a light cardigan and an anorak or umbrella may be necessary on rainy or cooler days.

Safety

Please be vigilant at all times as criminals target those who seem oblivious to their surroundings. Always keep your belongings in full view and on your person.  If you carry a bag, wear it over your shoulder and neck.  Please seek advice on which areas are safe to travel to and at what times.  Travel in groups wherever possible.  If you are using an Uber, please ensure you have the correct driver and vehicle registration information BEFORE getting in the vehicle.
